The following is a preliminary ranked storefront retail location list by Community Plan Area (CPA) that is also posted online. These rankings are a result of the Phase 3 merit-based selection process. Five of the six identified CPAs are included here.
The Orcutt Community Plan Area is undergoing a legal challenge and the County is complying with a stay order issued by the Court on March 12, 2021. The preliminary ranked list for this CPA will be released once allowed by the court.
Per County Ordinance 50-7.d.3.vii: Any accepted applicant will have five business days after posting on the County’s website to file a written scoring protest with the County Executive Office. Scoring protests will be considered by the County Executive Office and all decisions of the County Executive Office are final. Following the resolution of any protest, the County Executive Office will create and post on the County’s website the final ranked storefront retail list for each Community Plan Area.
Phase 3 consisted of an on-site visit to the proposed retail location, review, score, and ranking of the Neighborhood Compatibility Plan that each applicant submitted. Per the ordinance, only the number one ranked applicant in each of the CPAs is invited to start the land use entitlement and business license application process.
The Planning and Development Department will follow the standard process of public noticing for each associated permit. Inquiries related to the land use entitlement permitting process and noticing per CPA should be directed to:
