‘We truly want to embody the North by being a friendly, trustworthy part of the community’
A new cannabis store opens its doors in Greater Sudbury’s South End this Saturday.
“It’s just a new experience that they are trying to give: beat the stigma around cannabis and smoking ‘weed’,” explained Paula Morrow, spokeswoman for Northbound Cannabis Co., which opens in the Cedar Pointe Plaza on Saturday morning. “There’s a private consultation suite. Customers can come in. They can speak to our educated product advisers in a soundproof room. They can ask questions, talk about what they like. It’s one-on-one … We are really aiming for the experience.”
Owned by a group of five people who all live and work in Greater Sudbury, Northbound Cannabis Co. aims to offer a wide range of cannabis products to the cannabis consumer.
“It is our goal to be the premier and most-trusted cannabis retailer for Northern Ontario by educating our consumers, making the process easier to understand and navigate,” said Phil Bouffard, one of the owners of Northbound Cannabis Co. “We truly want to embody the North by being a friendly, trustworthy part of the community that is here to help change the way you think about cannabis and the role it plays in your life.
“We treat cannabis retail very differently and you will notice it from the moment you walk into our store. We’re really proud of what we’ve created and we’re so excited to share it with you.”
In the beginning, Northbound Cannabis Co. will feature more than a dozen different cannabis brands and cannabis accessories such as bongs.
“We are regulated by the government,” said Morrow. “A lot of the products available to the public are the same. (But) we are looking to bring in some high-end brands. We have a lot of organic (cannabis) foods …
“Everything you can think of on the top of your head. There’s edibles, things you can drink, topical solutions. Of course, the typical marijuana you smoke. There’s so many (products).”
Northbound Cannabis Co. is on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, but its website is not ready just yet.
“It’s in the beginning stages,” said Morrow. “Once the actual website is ready, we will be doing curbside pick-up.”
The grand opening of Northbound Cannabis Co. will see the first 100 or so customers receive a Northbound gift. The business, located near Buzzy Brown’s, opens at 10 a.m.
